Congratulations to Prodigo M., LPN, Emergency Department, on being awarded the John L. Green Generation of Leadership Scholarship! This recognition is a testament to his dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence in nursing!
Prodigo is pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Frostburg University. His former education and experience include completing Medical School in Venezuela and working in the Emergency Department. He is an Acute Care Licensed Practical Nurse in the Emergency Department at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
Prodigo is originally from Venezuela and has been passionate about healthcare since he was 15 years old, when he first began working in the field. As a native Spanish speaker, Prodigo has found that his ability to connect with Hispanic patients and those from the LGBTQIA+ community has been one of his greatest strengths as a nurse. These connections have helped shape him into a compassionate, culturally aware, and inclusive healthcare provider. He is deeply committed to advancing equity and representation in healthcare and is working toward leadership roles where he can continue to make a meaningful impact.
Background:
The John L. Green Generation of Leadership Scholarship honors the late John L. Green, executive vice president, Corporate Services. From 1983 to 2002, Green held executive leadership roles at Medlantic Health Care Group and MedStar Health, as well as on the Morgan State University Board of Regents in Baltimore. He served as chairman of the Morgan State University board from 1990 to 1995.
The scholarship is reserved for individuals who share Green’s traits of excellence, leadership, and commitment to the vision, mission, and values of MedStar Health. This scholarship reflects Green’s commitment to increasing minority representation in leadership positions in healthcare. It is also MedStar Health’s Equity, Inclusion & Diversity (EI&D) commitment to advance associates with diverse backgrounds, skills, and talents equitably at all levels of the organization. This is done by providing opportunity for associates with diverse backgrounds to support upward movement and have a diverse mixture of people across all levels of the organization. By increasing minority representation in leadership positions at MedStar Health, we continue to build a diverse and inclusive workplace where all people feel a sense of belonging and accomplishment.
